Star Garage is your number one local garage offering a first class range of servicing, repairs, MOT and tyres as well as a car and van hire department.

It’s a garage with a long, local history brought right up-to-date by its two new directors Ashley Gibson and Jamie Fradgley, who took over the business in 2018 when owner Alan Stansfield retired.

Between them, they have worked at Star Garage for over 18 years, so they know how important it is to preserve its excellent reputation and vital customer relations, whilst at the same time being totally up to speed with the latest developments in the motor industry.

“Our aim now is to build on the reputation Star has established with loyal customers over the years by being a modern garage with old-school values,” says Ashley.

Jamie adds: “We all believe in being honest, trustworthy and fair with our customers and we try whenever possible to be available on site to discuss any problems.”

Ashley and Jamie head a team of six experienced, fully-trained and qualified technicians who specialise in cars of all ages. The offering also includes servicing vehicles under warranty to meet manufacturers’ requirements, using approved parts.

Star Garage celebrated its 35th birthday at its present premises on Valley Road in 2017, but its family roots go much deeper.

It was established in 1982 when Rex Stansfield and his son Alan left Bankfoot Garage on the main A646 at Mytholm in Hebden Bridge to establish Star in Valley Road. Such was their reputation, the majority of their customers followed them.

While Bankfoot sold new and used cars and fuel, as well as servicing and repairs, the Stansfield father and son partnership decided to build on their reputation for maintaining customers’ cars to the highest standard.

They built a team of trained technicians, two of whom became its new directors following Alan’s retirement in 2018, determined to maintain its reputation.
